1955 MERCEDES BENZ 300 SLR

One of only three cars. Wonderful provenance. The sister car is in the Bucci Museum. Am contemporary of Fangio and the winner the 1947 Argentine Championship Clemar Bucci (1920 - 2011) was a renowned GP driver in his day and the first Argentine driver to complete in Grand Prix World Championships. His best results was third in San Remo with a Maserati, behind Alberto Ascari and Luigi Villoresi. 

When he retired from racing he set up his own Scuderia Bucci and in later life became better known as a race car designer. He is also know to have built a small number of high quality recreations, including the superb 300 SLR. Built in aluminum over a tubular chassis using all Mercedes components.

One of the only three cars built by Bucci (1920 - 2011), Mercedes granted him full access to copy the original in the Stuttgart museum. It is believed that Mercedes acquired the first car, this car is No. 2, and the third car is in the Bucci Museum, where it can still be seen today. The cars were built in 2001.

The aluminum body is indistinguishable from the original, while the mechanical components are period, taken from a Mercedes 200S. The engine is a 6-cylinder, but the engine bay is period correct to the original. The car is registered as a 1954 Mercedes Benz, and is on an Argentine title, although it is in Europe with duties paid. The current owner has owned the car for the past 10 years. This is a rare car with great provenance, and has a direct link back to the cars and drivers of the 1950s. It is in superb condition and offers and unrepeatable opportunity.
